The program is for adults, produced by adults.

Kermode likes films by the way- and not much else. The fact that he referred to the Wii as "fun" is a real thumbs up from him.

Working at Sky Television almost everyone is under 30, but the people with editorial control are in their 40s. Simply put there is a paradox in that the people that produce and broadcast television are generally too old to broadcast to the teenage / early 20s market, meanwhile the creative individuals in the teenage / early 20s market are generally too young to have access to television broadcasting.

When we were kids we thought Thomas the Tank Engine was the pinnacle of genius, now Arrested Development. When you get older knitting and Radio 4 are very much your cup of tea. Sadly when broadcasters try to make a review show for the teenage / early 20s market it becomes alienating and patronizing.

Have a look at the first episode of the Young Ones- the "Nozin' Aroun'" section is exactly what I mean.

"Hi! My name's Bas. And me and my mates thought that TV just wasn't now, right? I expect, like us, you're not into all that stuff your [gives a 'thumbs up' sign] 'old man's' into, right? So, we thought we's have a programme for us, right? And this is it, Nozin' Aroun'. It's a programme for [thumbs up] young adults, made by [thumbs up] young adults, and concentrating on all the subjects that [thumbs up] young adults are interested in. Like unemployment!"

That said, if you are classing Doctor Who as "good culture", then I am going to have to look down my nose at you.

Re: Best Selling Show

I was certain it was a coma from the point when he quoted Robocop.

Re: Sat-ire…

Fantastic, a satisfied customer.
